Search the Catalogs

CRUZCAT Catalog: Contains the holdings of the UC Santa Cruz library. URL: http://cruzcat.ucsc.edu
Melvyl® Union Catalog: Contains the library holdings of all UC campuses. URL: http://melvyl.cdlib.org

Search Online Databases and Other Licensed Resources

UCSC Online Indexes and Databases: Links to article databases, online newspapers, online journals, image databases, reference resources and more. See the following note about SlugLink below for remote access information. URL: http://library.ucsc.edu/research.html

Off-Campus Access Service

When library patrons are located off-campus, they must "authenticate" themselves as UCSC faculty, staff or students so the Web site publishers will allow access to their resources. There are three ways to connect to these resources and authenticate oneself as a UCSC patron:

  • Connect to the Internet through an Internet Service Provider (such as PacBell DSL) and use Off-Campus Access. This service will ask you to login with your library card number the first time you click on a link for a licensed resource. You'll remain authenticated until you quit your browser. For further information, see the Off-Campus FAQ.
  1. Use on-campus computers. All campus buildings including the libraries, offices, classrooms, housing (ResNet), and wireless (CruzNet) also have full access to the library's online resources.
  2. Connect through the campus modem pool. More information is available at http://its.ucsc.edu/services/hardware/modems.php.

UC-eLinks

This service is designed to link you from a citation for an item to the actual text of that item. In most of the article databases, click on the icon and a pop-up window will appear with links to the options below. See http://library.ucsc.edu/ref/howto/elinks.html for more information.
Find the online full text of articles (when available)
Find the holdings (call numbers and locations) of print materials in UC libraries
Request books and articles through interlibrary loan
Ask a librarian for help.

Manage Library Accounts

Check your Circulation Record: For UCSC-owned items, confirm due dates, renew items eligible for renewal, review items placed on hold, determine if items have been recalled from you, change your access PIN. URL: http://cruzcat.ucsc.edu/patroninfo.html. For help, call (831) 459-5185 for the McHenry Library Circulation desk, or call (831) 459-5300 for the Science & Engineering Library Circulation desk.

Check your Interlibrary Loan Record: Confirm due dates and titles for items checked out through ILL. Call: (831) 459-2234 or email ill@library.ucsc.edu. (Restoration of online services coming soon!)
