Reservation Policy

Reservations for the Library Classroom are made through the McHenry Library Reference Unit. To book a meeting in the Classroom, use the request form (which is monitored regularly by Reference Unit staff) here, or contact Amy Chirman (chirman@ucsc.edu / 459-3229).

Priority for booking the Library Classroom is acknowledged in the following order:

  • Undergraduate and graduate instructional classes with a library component included
  • Instructional trainings for staff at the University Library
  • Meetings for staff at the University Library
  • Other uses (requires approval from Head of Reference Unit)

Requests for exceptions to any of these policies must go through the Head of the Reference Unit. On those occasions when we grant other use exceptions to the policy, those exceptions are only granted when there is evidence of a strong library component to the event.

A library staff member must be present at all class sessions and meetings.

The Bump Policy
The Reference Unit reserves the right to "bump" any reservation, with three days advanced notice, in the event that an instructional session is requested. It is not the responsibility of the Reference Unit to find an alternate room for the displaced meeting.
Guidelines for Library Classroom Use
Please:
  • Return all equipment to the equipment closet
  • Place any trash in the trash can
  • Straighten tables and chairs
  • Turn off lights
  • Lock the door as you exit the room
  • A Further Note
It is the responsibility of the individual booking use of the Library Classroom to make sure that it is returned to order for the next group. Please make sure that projectors have been turned off at the end of your use of the space.
